What aspect of Winter Institute was most beneficial to you?
I have been feeling like I wasn't current with international education since I haven't been allowed to attend any conferences or professional development for a while now. It was a great refresher on the countries covered. I learned some things I didn't know & realized that my institution is doing at good job in this area.
The fact that the approach was to teach us a process (how, what, why) rather than simply a list of instructions to apply blindly. Also, that it addressed the questions of high standards and "best practices." Though I am very aware of my raw beginner level of experience, I am already much more competent than before the Institute and confident that I can, with time, become very proficient.
Top notch training in international transcripts
Knowing what to look for. And the snacks were really good.
Honestly the entire program was enormously helpful
13th year information and how to convert credit hours from other countries.
It is so hard to pick one aspect. I really benefitted from the entire conference.
The wide range of educational systems covered and being able to discuss what different policies about these issues exists out there. Sharing with other universities
Hearing how colleagues in the field deal with similar issues and hearing their policies helped frame the policies we have in place.
The knowledge & experience of presenters and their willingness to answer general questions during break times.
All of it. As a new professional in this field, I learned a lot of valuable information that will enable me to perform my job better.
Other comments
Within days of returning to work after attending the Winter Institute, I was able to use 2 pieces of information learned thereā¦Also very valuable was the chance to pick the brains of IES staff and fellow attendees in the last session of the Institute?
I wish I had known about your resources MUCH sooner in my career. E.g., I don't know how to access ACCRAO Edge, which I wish I knew more about. I hope I can contribute back to this group somehow in return for what I learned.
The pillars were somewhat of a hindrance but as a wait listed attendee I would have gladly sat directly behind the pillar to be able to sit in on the session.
Great attention, and a lot of information. Excellent work, hope to see you on Summer Institute.
